Thinking French people tend to read Le Monde and the “bien pensants” (right thinking) read Le Figaro. La Provence, the local “daily”, devotes a section to Aix-en-Provence, with coverage of local news and events, concerts, theatre etc.

The Bibliothèque Méjanes > beeblee-ohtehk mehszchann < now housed in the Cité du Livre, on the site of the allumetterie , one of Aix’s claims to industrial production (matches!) Converted into a modern multimedia mediathèque, “Book City” combines the eighty thousand books bequeathed by the Marquis de Méjanes with twentieth century collections of books, videos, film, etc.
